Piñatex is a sustainable, vegan textile made from pineapple leaf fibers, serving as an eco-friendly alternative to leather for fashion.

After harvesting pineapples for food, the leftover leaves are collected, fibers extracted, and the residual biomass is used as fertilizer. The fibers are washed, sun-dried, purified, and blended with polylactic acid (PLA) from corn. This process reduces CO2 emissions and provides additional income for pineapple farmers, creating rural jobs.
